08/02/2003 Archived Entry: "Idol Room Layout?"
So, the temple areas and tomb areas are now playable, all though, there is still much work to be done. However, I can now move onto the idol room.
Currently, the plan is that the player will take the staff to the temple, which opens the way to the tomb. From the tomb are a series of tunnels which lead to the idol. The tomb is the area behind the octogonal shape. The octogonal shape is the temple.

So, the yellow outline is the proposed layout for the tunnels. Basically, the entire area will lie above the tomb. Why? Well, rolling rocks can't roll uphill, now can they? ;)
Anyway, the large yellow room is the idol room. The path leading down to the green square is the where the rock will roll too, and is the most direct path out of the room. Players can't go up here, only down and out of the idol room. The path with a green X will require a covert ops to blow an obstruction... perhaps a gate that can be built by the axis. The path with a green 2 will be accessible via a boost. The other two paths can be accessed normally, but are close to the axis spawn, which will lie in the rear of the tomb. Hopefully, this will force teamwork and make the covert ops useful in this portion of the map.
