Well, I got sick of seeing tris and vertex counts in the 20-30k range... so I decided to do something about it.
Basically, when I made the tunnes through the mountains, I didn't bother with making the caulk hull as I went. I did have walls, but I just lefted them for the tunnels and figured I'd get to it later... well, now is later... or... later is now... or whatever. So, I spent all day creating fun angles with caulk brushes, making sure that the caulk was tight around the three tunnels I have going.
So, now, in the highest area, I found 17k, but most areas hover around 10k verts/tris or less. This is pretty good considering the detail I have added so far. I could probably caulk-off the allied spawn, where a lot of tris are being drawn, and I might depending on how much more I decide to add.
I was a bit worried to be honest, but laying the map out with vising in mind seems to have payed off a great deal.
I've also added more detail to the village... a few other places... the tombs, etc. Also playing with lighting the tomb. Shield turned in a draft of the sub area and is making revisions also. Hopefully we'll have an alpha soon. I'd like some playtesting :/

Well, you are doing a great deal better than I am with tri count.. For some reason, terrain likes to be drawn even when you're under and away from it..
