Thos page contains the various peices of "art" that has been generated for this project. At this point, there's only a few sketches and drawings.

Drawing: Talk about early. This is the first drawing relating to the flow of the level. Basiaclly, I tried to bubble out different areas. The "Bs" are for battle areas... Staff is the location of a staff item, nto sure what "E" is for, "I" is for the location of the idol, "staff use" is where the staff is to be used.

Drawing: This is the orginal sketch of the map over head. At this point I knew I wanted a vehicle (a truck at this point) that is central to the objective. The truck (red) contains the staff at first. The staff must be brought to the dig site (blue). A battle ensues here. The staff opens the way (beige) to the idol (purple). The idol is returned to the truck, and the truck heads for the axis sub pen (green). The ark must be then loaded onto the truck, and the truck escapes to an area near the dig site.

Drawing: I started doing the sub pen / axis base first. I think this will be the tougest area to do. Anyway, This is by first over head drawing of the sub pen entrance. The truck will come into this open room, and a claw hangs on the ceiling (center picture). This will move to another room which grabs the ark. The "arms" coming off the box in the drawing are potential exits. The square in the corner is an underground exit.

Drawing: This shows a bit more on how the claw system will work. On the left is a (crappy) elevation of the sub pen. The box sitting on the front of the sub is the ark. The claw above will grab the ark. The middle / right drawing is frontal elevation. This shows two rooms, and how they'll be connected to one another. The claw will travel between the two rooms, probably one some I-Beam or something. Keep in mind these are not to scale. That would be one huge truck, or one tiny sub.

Drawing: The first over head of the sub pen. Here I'm trying to figure out how to connect the sub room with the truck room. The truck room is the smaller room on the bottom. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to place the axis spawn in a reasonable position.

Drawing: Here's a better overhead of the subroom. At this point I added some bridges that pass over the sub. The red area overlooks the sub pen, and is a spawn area for the Axis. I thought it might be cool to spawn and be able to look down over the objective. I'm sure the glass will not be breakable. Also, there are two spawn exits, probaly stairs that filter down into the objective room. There's also a tunnel on the left. I think from the truck room, there should be a tunnel that dumps into the water of the sub pen.

Drawing: Here's a perspective of the truck room. I'm thinking for some fun gun fights, have some railings hanging from the ceiling. Make the battles multidimensional. Also, I put the steel door / grate on the floor (ala Siwa Beach map from ET). I was thinking about placing the controls of the claw up here. So, the allies might have to go in the base, fight their way up and around to the controls. It might be cool to see the controls as they come in, but not be able to access them after some work. Also, I was putting in various exits to see what they might look like.

Drawing: This is a more detailed drawing of the sub room. A lot of this comes from watching Raiders of the Lost Ark. There's a tunnel that leads to the outside in the very back of the drawing. Above, left and right are the potential axis spawn points / lookouts. The tunnel dumps out in the foreground of the drawing. The controls are now placed in the back of this room, on the right. Ladders come up out of the water. There's also stairs that lead to bridges that pass over the sub. The ark sits on the nose of the sub. Random debris... barrels, crates should be stacked about.

Drawing: This is a half finished drawing of the sub area. I'm trying to make the room with the truck more interesting. I've curved the walls a bit, and I'm trying to decide on passages from this room. The truck is in the center of the room, in would come in from the top. The square in that room would be t the hatch.

Drawing: This is the front of the sub area, with lots of detail. I want the front to be large and inspiring, since many Nazi buildings had this feeling during WWII. Although, I'll probably change the swastika to a Wolf eagle. Lights would shine up at it if the map takes place at night.

Drawing: Here I've moved onto the more Egyptianny part. This is a sketch of a large (2-3 story) statue that might be located underground.

Drawing: I'm just trying to figure out a shape for the cavern once players drop down into it. Also, a possible roundabout passage. Also, I wanted some walls with torches, and some cracked walls for variation.

Drawing: Here I tried to sketch out a boulder trap. Like in Raiders, I want players to be chased by a round boulder when they escape with the idol.

Drawing: Here I'm trying to do some preliminary overheads of the underground area. The blue areas are where the Allies would come in and later spawn. The green areas are where the "treasures" are. The left green area is where the staff is placed, in a replicat of a small city. The other green area is the location of the idol. The red area is a potential axis spawn. The two shapes to the right of the left green area are the big statues I sketched earlier. Also, behind each staue is a door. Those doors would be opened when the staff is placed in the city model. The doors are blown up on the left side of the drawing. I'm also thinking it might be good to have a sneaky way to drop in over the idol... a passage is sketched there, leading from one of the main passages out over the idol.

Drawing: This is a preliminary topographical map. The sub pen is to the left, the dig site is near the top, and the truck is in the center, dark area. The dark areas designate roads. Also, at the top are notes from talking in IRC to BigDadu.
